POTRANSI conducts a cross-national power analysis of four social innovation trends:

• sharing economy
• eco-communities
• decentralized energy
• participatory democracy

Across each of these social innovation trends we map out and distinguish between social innovation networks and initiatives, creating a layered and dynamic network. Using an embedded case study approach, we study how these trends manifest locally across three European contexts: the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, and Portugal. With their distinct socio-economic and institutional contexts, studying these countries allows us to conduct a comparative analysis. 

We start this research by mapping out social innovation initiatives and networks under each trends, after which case studies are selected.
